Building Maintenance Assistant

Building Maintenance Assistant and Recycling Tech Performance of basic reactive maintenance tasks, general building upkeep, and comprehensive recycling program coordination under supervision of Building Maintenance Technician. Assist with maintaining building cleanliness, functionality, and appearance while managing recycling operations, sustainability initiatives, and surplus asset disposition. RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES: Performance of ongoing reactive & preventive work orders on building systems and manufacturing line systems. Maintain, operate, and repair all building and manufacturing line systems including but not limited to: Assist Building Maintenance staff with reactive work orders and basic maintenance tasks Perform minor building repairs including patching walls, touch-up painting, and general cosmetic repairs Replace light bulbs and ballasts throughout the facility Support basic plumbing tasks such as unclogging drains and minor fixture adjustments Maintain building cleanliness including common areas, stairwells, and mechanical rooms Set up and break down rooms and equipment for meetings and events Move furniture and equipment as needed Perform minor door hardware adjustments and repairs Replace air filters when directed Assist with seasonal tasks such as snow removal and grounds maintenance Other duties as assigned Recycling Program Coordination Collection of bottles, cans, paper and cardboard throughout facility. Coordinate vendor pickup schedules for paper and cardboard recycling Maintain detailed records of all recyclable materials (paper, cardboard, bottles, cans, scrap materials) and report volumes to client Collect scrap printers and printer parts, weight and load onto trailers for recycling Maintain annual record logs of all scrap material quantities and submit reports as required Collect confidential paper and stage in recycling dock; coordinate on-site shredding with vendor Coordinate and manage all trash dumpsters and compactors on site including scheduling pulls, emptying, re-staging, and removal with vendors Order temporary dumpsters to support projects or demolition work; coordinate removal when projects complete or dumpsters are full Coordinate hauling of full paper and scrap trailers with suppliers and arrange for replacement trailers Load and unload trucks arriving at the recycling area Respond effectively to all emergencies. Study and become familiar with the various items of equipment, and the methods required to use them properly, that are required in everyday activities. Comply with all safety procedures, maintaining good housekeeping and safety of work areas. Recognize danger and safety hazards and propose methods to eliminate them. Maintain compliance to State, County, or Municipality Ordinances, Codes, or Laws. Must be willing and able to support any after-hours building related activity as required. Attend periodic training seminars Interacts with external and internal customers with a positive demeanor. Will be required to utilize Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Will be required to utilize Corrigo, JLL's Work Order System as appropriate. On call duties and overtime as required Able to carry 50 lbs. Provide service for first response to equipment failures/plant down events Works as a cohesive team member taking direction and training from engineering team. EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS Required: High School Diploma or GED equivalent Valid driver's license and forklift certification (or ability to obtain) Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Basic computer skills including email, work order systems, and record keeping Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy Excellent record-keeping and documentation abilities Positive attitude and willingness to learn Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and manage multiple responsibilities Professional communication skills with building occupants, vendors, and team members Ability to coordinate with multiple vendors and stakeholders PREFERRED One to two years of experience in building maintenance, facilities support, recycling operations, or related field Experience with recycling or waste management programs Basic knowledge of hand and power tools Experience with inventory management and vendor coordination Experience with asset disposition or surplus sales Vocational training or coursework in building trades Career Development This position provides opportunity to develop maintenance skills, recycling program management expertise, and vendor coordination capabilities under the guidance of experienced technicians, with potential advancement to Building Maintenance roles as skills and experience grow.
