The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is seeking multiple Temporary Construction Technicians in and around Casper, Wheatland, Douglas, and Torrington to perform basic construction tasks under supervision to provide a safe and effective transportation system.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Construction tasks include performing basic lab tests and survey procedures.
• Perform construction inspections.
• Prepare and check computations and data.

Preference may be given to individuals who can perform algebraic calculations. Knowledge of materials testing, surveying methods and equipment operations, construction inspection, which includes interpretation of plans and specifications, skill in the use of computers, strong math skills, and ability to perform algebraic calculations are required.

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• This position requires working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
• Individuals in this classification must be available for emergency work calls at any time, including nights, weekends, and holidays with a response time of no greater than 30 minutes. Acceptance of an appointment to this classification signifies that the individual is aware of this requirement and will comply with it.

FLSA: Non-exempt. Wyoming Department of Transportation is a Drug-Free Workplace. WYDOT will conduct motor vehicle record checks to verify for a valid driver's license. E-Verify: WYDOT uses E-Verify, an Internet-based system, to confirm all newly hired employees' eligibility to work in the United States. This is a temporary, full-time position that could last up to 6 months.
