Fire Alarm Designer

Job Details Job Location: Chesapeake Sprinkler Odenton - Odenton, MD 21113 Position Type: Full Time Salary Range: $35.00 - $45.00 Hourly Division 137 | Odenton, MD Design smarter. Protect better. Build what matters. What You’ll Do Design fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA 72, NFPA 70 (NEC), IBC, IFC, and local AHJ requirements. Prepare detailed drawings, layouts, riser diagrams, and device calculations. Select fire alarm equipment and devices based on project scope and code requirements. Review architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawings for proper coordination. Collaborate with Project Managers, engineers, and field personnel. Prepare submittal packages, including product data, battery calculations, and sequences of operation. Respond to plan review comments and revise drawings as needed. Support permitting and AHJ approval processes. Assist with design-build and value engineering solutions. Maintain organized project documentation and design files. Perform other duties as assigned. What You Bring Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Drafting, or related field, or equivalent industry experience. 2–5 years of fire alarm design experience. Strong knowledge of NFPA codes and local fire alarm requirements. Ability to read and interpret construction documents and specifications. Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit preferred. Familiarity with major fire alarm manufacturers and systems. NICET certification preferred. Microsoft Office proficiency, including Word and Excel. The Job Primarily office and computer-based design work. Regularly required to sit, walk, and use hands for computer and technical work.
