Job Purpose and Summary At CVS Health, District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence within each pharmacy, serving as a role model for the team and ensuring safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices. DSPs cover pharmacist scheduling gaps, support the Pharmacy Manager, and oversee pharmacy operations across the district. Responsibilities Live the purpose of managing and improving patient health through safe dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices. Travel the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator and serve as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts. Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and directing the pharmacy team accordingly. Assume the Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when acting as the primary pharmacist‑on‑duty. Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, coaching the team, and proactively resolving insurance and medication issues. Proactively offer and deliver immunizations to keep patients healthy, while engaging and teaching Pharmacy Technicians to immunize. Support effective pharmacy inventory management, following best practices and protecting cold‑chain products. Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic. Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills, completing required trainings and continuing education to better support patients. Help improve patient outcomes through pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services (e.g., COVID/Flu, hormonal contraception) where permissible. Understand and comply with all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS Health policies, including controlled‑substance dispensing and recordkeeping. Qualifications Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list. Essential Functions Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as business needs require. Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends. Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe. Attention and focus: concentrate on tasks over time and pivot quickly between tasks. Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy for patient safety. Customer service and team orientation: actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner. Communication skills: use and understand verbal and written communication, active listening, and appropriate questioning. Mathematical reasoning: determine tablet counts, supplies, and packaging for prescriptions. Problem resolution: identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action. Physical demands: mobile, upright, lift up to 20 lbs, repetitive finger work, visual acuity, adjust machines precisely, and work in varied positions. Physical Demands The role requires staying mobile and upright for extended periods, lifting up to 20 lbs, frequently lifting up to 10 lbs, and performing repetitive finger tasks. Workers must also have close visual acuity for tasks such as transcribing and reading computer terminals. Compensation and Benefits Pay range: $65.00 – $81.00 per hour. Eligible for bonus, commission, and incentive programs.
