Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN General) Staff Augmentation Duration: 52 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 6:15 AM - 2:15 PM Experience: Minimum Years of Experience Required License: Valid Licensed Practical Nurse License Certifications: CPR Certification Must-Have: Knowledge of skilled licensed practical nursing procedures; pharmacology; client/patient care; first-aid; general hospital practices and procedures; HIPAA regulations and standards.

Description: Administers nursing care within scope of practice as set forth in the Ohio Revised Code under the direction of registered nurses or licensed physicians. Administers oxygen; applies sterile dressings; inserts catheters; reinserts gastrostomy tubes; suctions and irrigates wounds; gives enemas. Collects specimens and performs dialysis treatments. Operates hemodialysis equipment and monitors patients during procedures. Assists physicians with physical exams and treatments. Assists in emergencies by administering first aid and performing cardio-pulmonary resuscitation. Administers controlled drugs and provides medication instructions to patients. Maintains medication accountability records. Observes, documents, and reports patient conditions and prepares related reports and records. Provides general nursing care and assists with daily living activities. Administers topical ointments and solutions and responds to patient alarms. Makes medical appointments for patients and escorts them to activities. Provides assistance and training to lower-level direct care staff. Orders medication and medical supplies. Cleans nursing stations and medication areas. Performs clerical tasks such as answering phones and filing. Demonstrates dexterity to administer injections and perform medical treatments. Develops rapport with patients. Recognizes unusual or threatening conditions and takes appropriate emergency action.
