Based in NE Washington, DC
Bookkeeper / Accountant
Full-time position available for international labor union located in NE Washington, DC. IFPTE is an international labor union representing 90,000 members in the Federal, Public and Private sectors. This position is an OPEIU Local 2 represented position.
Duties will include, but not limited to:
- Day-to-Day bookkeeping tasks including recording cash receipts and cash disbursements
- Accounts Receivable Invoicing
- Processing payments to vendors
- Monthly bank reconciliations
- General Journal entries
- Maintaining vendor files
- Preparation of financial statements
- Annual budget preparation
- Process weekly in-house payrolls, and responsible for all weekly, monthly and quarterly payroll filings (940, 941, W-2’s, 1099’s, state withholding taxes, etc)
- Employee benefit enrollments
- Bookkeeping for PAC account and FEC filings as required
- Attend IFPTE triennial Conventions
- Work with outside CPA on annual audits, 990s, LM filings
- Other responsibilities to include annual insurance renewal applications, annual bond renewal, etc.
Qualifications
- Associate Degree or higher in Accounting or Business Administration and/or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years working in a data-entry and administrative role
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite-Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Strong grammar, spelling, and communication skills
- Experience working for a labor union preferred
- Prior experience in accounting for PACs a plus
- Candidate must be reliable and able to work independently
- Detail oriented
Work Schedule
- Thirty-five hours per week/Seven hours per day.
- This is a full-time in-office position with potential for some situational remote/telework after one-year of service.
Salary and Benefits
- Salary starting between $85,000 – $115,000 depending on experience.
