Position Overview
Northrop Grumman's Spacecraft Components organization within the Payload and Ground Systems (PGS) division designs, produces, and supplies spacecraft components including spacecraft panels, bus structures, precision optical structures, deployable structural systems and mechanisms, solar arrays, and antenna reflectors.


The Assembler 2 performs manufacturing and assembly activities involving mechanical components, subassemblies, and final assemblies. The position works closely with engineers on setup, calibration, testing, rework, quality activities, and manufacturing process improvements.
Primary Responsibilities

• Fabricate and assemble mechanical components for larger assemblies.
• Set up and test prototype units and subassemblies under operational conditions.
• Analyze operating and test data and recommend modifications to components or test procedures.
• Assist mechanical engineers with mechanical and electromechanical designs, testing, fabrication, and assembly.
• Perform manufacturing setup and calibration activities.
• Conduct rework and quality testing of parts, components, subassemblies, and final assemblies.
• Use manufacturing programs and systems to collect and evaluate operating data.
• Perform online adjustments to products, instruments, or equipment as required.
• Assist in developing methods and procedures to control or modify manufacturing processes.
• Handle and manage fragile composite materials.
• Document adhesive usage, material traceability, pot life, and out-time controls.
• Report manufacturing data and interface with other employees and departments.
• Read and understand manufacturing and engineering drawings and shop planning documentation.
• Maintain overall shop appearance, cleanliness, and organization.

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• High School Diploma or GED plus at least 2 years of additional education and/or related experience .
• Ability to read, write, and follow instructions written in English.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 40 lbs.
• Ability to remain on feet for extended periods.
• Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, and different shifts based on manufacturing requirements.
• Self-starter with initiative, adaptability, and motivation for excellence.
• Ability to work within a Microsoft Office environment , including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Demonstrated mechanical ability.
• Ability to read and follow engineering drawings and/or schematics.
• Familiarity with proper hand-tool techniques and safety, including wrenches and screwdrivers.
• Familiarity with torque concepts.

• Experience using electronic test equipment, including:
  • DC power supplies
  • Digital multimeters (DMMs)
  • Source meters
• Proficiency with basic shop arithmetic.
• Familiarity with ISO requirements, standards, and compliance.
• Experience with cranes, rigging, forklifts, or similar manufacturing equipment.
• Soldering experience.
• J-Standard Certification.
