The individual for this position must have a minimum of 5 years CNC machining and set-up experience on CNC lathes and/or mills . Applicants must demonstrate a thorough understanding of the processes necessary to machine complex aircraft parts to tolerances as tight as .0003”. Applicants must be able to determine proper tool selection and validate programmed speeds and feeds across a multitude of different materials.

Core Qualifications

· Technical Mastery: Strong blueprint reading skills and a thorough understanding of GD&T.

· Collaboration: Willingness to work in a team environment, partnering with fellow machinists and programmers to optimize efficiency.

· Programming Knowledge: While this is a machining role, experience with CAM or manual G-code programming is a definite plus.

· Availability: Must be willing to work weekends and short-notice overtime to meet critical production deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Job Ownership: Thoroughly and accurately plan and execute daily setups, ensuring all operations align with quality standards and production timelines.

· Tooling Management: Proactively identify and request all necessary cutting tools and fixtures via company email through the department manager or buyer to prevent production delays.

· Expert Setup: Independently perform complex setups on mills and/or lathes, ensuring all workholding and offsets are dialed in for maximum precision.

· Fixture Fabrication: Assist in the design and physical construction of necessary tooling and fixturing to secure parts during high-tolerance machining.

· Process Verification: Execute initial "prove-outs" of new programs with extreme caution and attention to detail, troubleshooting at the machine to ensure safety and efficiency.

· Quality Integrity: Perform rigorous in-process inspections and "first-part" verifications. We expect a high level of integrity in reporting measurements and maintaining "zero-scrap" mentalities.

· Speed & Feed Optimization: Monitor machine performance and adjust speeds, feeds, and tooling on the fly to optimize cycle times and tool life.

· Documentation: Maintain clear, concise, and accurate setup sheets and tool lists to ensure the next shift or future runs are successful.

· Maintenance & Stewardship: Take pride in the workspace by performing daily machine maintenance, organizing tooling, and ensuring a clean, safe shop environment.

· Mentorship: Act as a leader on the shop floor, training and mentoring less experienced machinists in setup techniques and best practices.

· Continuous Improvement: Actively suggest and implement process improvements to reduce cycle times and minimize waste.

· Accountability: Maintain honest communication with management regarding project status, tool breakage, or any deviations from the manufacturing plan.
