Overview Job Requirements The Clinical Nurse I (CN I) provides safe, evidence-based, patient-centered nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients on the 7 West (7W) Medical-Surgical Unit. Working collaboratively within the interdisciplinary team, the CN I is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating individualized patient care while promoting quality outcomes, patient safety, and the principles of High Reliability Organization (HRO) practice. Primary Responsibilities Deliver comprehensive nursing care utilizing the nursing process. Perform accurate patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care. Administer medications, treatments, and procedures in accordance with hospital policies and evidence-based practice. Monitor patient status, recognize changes in condition, and communicate concerns promptly to the healthcare team. Provide patient and family education to promote recovery, discharge readiness and self-management. Maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation within the electronic medical record (EPIC). Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, case management, therapy services, pharmacy, and ancillary departments to coordinate patient care. Participate in bedside shift report, prepare dayshift for interdisciplinary bedside rounds (IBR) and unit safety huddles. Adhere to infection prevention, fall prevention, pressure injury prevention, medication safety, and patient identification standards. Support quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, and UMMS standards. Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and excellent customer service while fostering a respectful and inclusive work environment. Successfully complete orientation and maintain clinical competency requirements Work Experience Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Current Maryland Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility for Maryland licensure. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association required. Ability to work full-time day shift (72 hours per pay period), including weekends and holidays per departmental scheduling requirements. Strong communication, critical thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
