Professor, Clinical Faculty Appointment, Neuropsychology

Position Overview This faculty position reports to the Chairman of the Department of Neuro Oncology and the Head of the Division of Cancer Medicine. The incumbent leads the Neuropsychology section at MD Anderson Cancer Center, providing clinical expertise and supervision of psychometricians, mentoring junior faculty, and conducting clinical research. Responsibilities include teaching neuro oncology fellows, neurology residents, and medical students, participating in the development and conduct of clinical trials, and contributing to research on neurological complications of cancer. Essential Functions Serve on institutional and hospital committees, attending meetings, reviewing documents, and providing verbal feedback. Provide a balanced and integrated educational experience in neuropsychology for residents, medical students, and fellows. Develop, implement, and evaluate written learning materials and continuing education programs, and attend department/division teaching conferences. Actively engage in clinical research and scholarly activity to enhance the academic environment. Design research programs, synthesize information, instruct research personnel, seek funding, complete grant applications, and perform budget development and analysis. Represent the Department and/or section in local, regional, state, and national matters. Travel to sites outside the Houston area, then disseminate information to colleagues verbally or in writing. Practice neuropsychology professionally. Develop and maintain a neuropsychology practice for patients referred to the MD Anderson Cancer Center. Provide provider staffing for outpatient and inpatient services, review ICD‑9 and CPT coding, approve charge documents, complete patient documentation within required time frames, and correspond with referring physicians. Model exemplary practice for faculty, fellows, residents, and students rotating on the service. Provide peer review to assess clinical practice of faculty within the department. Work effectively within intense interpersonal relationships among physicians, patients, and subordinates.
