About the Position

Job Opportunity – Behavioral Health Registered Nurse – Ohio

Start Date: November 2, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend coverage. Patient ratio of 1:6. Float pool assignment across multiple inpatient psychiatric units.

Highlights:

• Float pool coverage across 4 inpatient psychiatric units with varying acuity levels, including units specializing in geriatrics, young adults, and high-acuity psychotic disorders
• 24-bed and 18-bed units serving diverse patient populations with schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, mania, psychotic disorders, suicidal ideation, MDD, anxiety, and dementia with behavioral disturbance
• Epic charting system required; 36 hours of comprehensive orientation provided
• Trauma-informed care approach utilizing de-escalation techniques, aegis protocols, and evidence-based behavior management
• First-time travelers welcomed; local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Interdisciplinary team support including pharmacy, social services, physical therapy, respiratory services, and rapid response teams

Requirements:

• Active Registered Nurse license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
• Minimum 2 years of behavioral health nursing experience required
• BLS certification required; CPI and aegis training required or must be obtained
• Epic charting system experience required
• Nursing education from ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• 2 professional references required (at least 1 from manager/director or formal leadership role)
• Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed urgently upon contract signing
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required
• Previous charge experience preferred
