About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 18 months Med/Tele experience License: Current RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: General Med/Tele skillset, stroke experience Description: Registered Nurse needed for a MedSurg/Telemetry unit. The facility has 109 licensed beds and is not a teaching hospital. This unit serves patients with stroke, COPD, chest pain, altered mental status, and GI bleed. Patient ratios for RNs are 1:5-6, acuity dependent. Surge staffing could increase ratios up to 1:7-8. CNA support is available for patient care tasks. General skills required include stroke assessments, chest tube management, PIV starts, and trach care. Cardiac rhythm interpretation and NGT placement are also necessary. Medication management includes cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and intravenous fluids. Floating to other facilities may be required as needed within the scope of practice. Weekend rotation is every other weekend, with holiday expectations of 75% of holidays worked. Travelers can request up to 6 days off, excluding holidays, with the requirement to add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours.
