Speech Language Pathologist Assistant Location: State‑Wide – Colorado resident required. Grand Junction servicing Montrose Classical Academy in Montrose. FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt Reports To: Director of Exceptional Student Services Work Hours/Days: Full‑time or Part‑time based on student enrollment and special education service needs. Caseload expectations aligned with FTE assignment per state and federal guidelines. Wage: $29.25–$33.18 per hour; compensated prorated based on FTE assignment. Benefits: Eligible based on FTE status. 30+ hours per week eligible for full benefits (health, dental, vision, 401k, paid leave). Job Function The Speech‑Language Pathologist Assistant supports development of inclusive, data‑driven communication services by partnering with school leaders, SLPs, special education teachers, paraprofessionals, and families to deliver high‑quality, compliant speech‑language interventions. Supports MTSS/RTI, trauma‑informed practices, SEL alignment, and culturally responsive implementation. Provides direct intervention, data collection, and instructional support for articulation, language, fluency, social communication, and AAC needs. Collaborates on multidisciplinary evaluation and IEP teams under SLP supervision, with some remote service delivery and consultation. Core Responsibilities Direct Student Services: Provide therapy activities designed by the supervising SLP. Support articulation, language, fluency, and social communication goals. Reinforce AAC use and communication strategies across settings. Documentation & Data: Collect and record session data with accuracy. Prepare materials, visuals, and AAC supports. Communicate student progress and concerns to the SLP. Collaboration: Work with teachers and paraprofessionals to generalize communication strategies. Support classroom‑based interventions and carryover activities. Family & Team Support: Assist with communication to families regarding schedules and general updates. Support translation of SLP‑designed home practice materials. Qualifications Completion of an approved SLPA program or equivalent coursework. State registration or certification as required. Experience with children or school settings preferred. Strong communication and organizational skills. Work Environment & Physical Demands School‑based settings with movement between classrooms. Frequent use of materials, visuals, and AAC devices. Requires sitting, standing, and engaging with students at various levels. Optional Remote/Tele‑Support Virtual therapy activities under SLP supervision. Remote data collection and material preparation. Digital collaboration with teachers and families.
