Private Banker

The Private Banker serves as the first point of contact for clients, providing an exceptional client experience while ensuring accurate, efficient, and compliant transaction processing. This role is responsible for serving as the “Director of First Impressions,” acting as both a teller and the primary opener of consumer and commercial deposit accounts. The Private Banker is responsible for ensuring that all new accounts are established accurately, completely, and in accordance with Bank policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and applicable risk controls. The Private Banker will also support branch operations, Treasury Management services, client onboarding, operational risk mitigation, and quarterly branch audit preparations. The position requires a high level of attention to detail, sound judgment, accountability, and a strong understanding of operational risk, particularly when handling transactions, opening accounts, maintaining client documentation, and supporting Treasury Management activities. The Private Banker will provide backup support to the Senior Private Banker in specialized functions and contribute to a strong culture of compliance, accuracy, and client service. Key Responsibilities Serve as the initial point of contact for clients, delivering a professional, welcoming, and high-quality client experience. Perform teller responsibilities, including processing deposits, withdrawals, payments, transfers, and other standard banking transactions with accuracy, efficiency, and appropriate risk controls. Serve as the primary opener of consumer and commercial new accounts, including checking, savings, money market, certificates of deposit, and other applicable deposit products. Complete all required new-account documentation and due diligence accurately and timely, including obtaining and reviewing required identification, entity documentation, ownership information, beneficial ownership information, resolutions, signatures, tax documentation, and other required supporting documents. Ensure consumer and commercial accounts are opened in accordance with Bank policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, account-opening standards, and applicable BSA/AML and Customer Identification Program requirements. Exercise strong attention to detail when reviewing account-opening documentation and identify missing, inconsistent, or potentially inaccurate information before an account is established. Identify and elevate potential operational, compliance, fraud, documentation, or client-risk concerns to the appropriate manager or Bank personnel. Apply appropriate risk mitigation practices to daily transactions and account-opening activities, including following established approval, verification, documentation, dual-control, and exception procedures. Maintain accurate client and account records and ensure documentation is complete, properly executed, and retained in accordance with Bank policies and regulatory requirements. Assist with the initial steps and activities related to quarterly branch operations audits, including record-keeping, documentation reviews, exception follow-up, and compliance testing. Provide backup support to the Senior Private Banker in areas such as Treasury Management services, client onboarding, account maintenance, product implementation, and other specialized banking functions. Support Treasury Management onboarding and implementation activities while ensuring required documentation, approvals, and controls are completed before services are activated. Maintain a strong working knowledge of Bank policies, procedures, products, systems, and applicable compliance requirements to ensure adherence in all client and operational activities. Review work carefully for accuracy and completeness and take ownership of correcting errors or discrepancies in a timely manner. Identify opportunities to deepen client relationships and appropriately refer clients to additional banking, lending, Treasury Management, wealth management, or other Bank services when applicable. Protect confidential client and Bank information and maintain appropriate discretion when handling sensitive financial, personal, and business information. Support overall branch operations and contribute to a collaborative, accountable, and client-focused team environment. Demonstrate sound judgment when handling exceptions, unusual transactions, incomplete documentation, or other situations that may create operational or compliance risk. Participate in ongoing training and maintain current knowledge of regulatory requirements, Bank procedures, products, systems, and risk-management expectations. Qualifications Previous banking or financial services experience preferred, teller, cash handling, consumer or commercial account opening, or client onboarding experience highly desirable. Experience with commercial deposit accounts, business documentation, Treasury Management services, or business banking preferred. Strong client service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to serve as a professional representative of the Bank. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining accuracy. Strong understanding of the importance of operational controls, risk mitigation, documentation, and compliance in a banking environment. Ability to identify discrepancies, potential errors, and operational or compliance risks and elevate issues appropriately. Familiarity with banking compliance, BSA/AML requirements, account-opening requirements, audit processes, and Treasury Management services preferred. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive client and Bank information. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and core banking systems.
