In this highly visible role, you will oversee payroll operations, accounts payable activities, financial reporting, compliance initiatives, and audit support.This position operates on a hybrid schedule following an initial on-site training period, with in-office attendance required Tuesday through Thursday.Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PMWhat You'll DoPayroll AdministrationProcess accurate and timely semi-monthly payrollMaintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational requirementsServe as payroll system administrator and primary liaison with external payroll providersAllocate payroll and benefits across multiple funding sources and prepare related journal entriesReconcile payroll activity within the accounting system (MIP)Generate payroll reports for Accounting and HR teamsManage payroll calendars, direct deposit setup, tax filings, and deductionsResearch and stay current on payroll regulations and compliance requirementsRespond to employee payroll questions and resolve discrepanciesAccounts Payable & Financial OperationsProcess vendor invoices and employee reimbursement requestsReview, code, and verify all A/P transactionsExecute check runs and submit positive pay reportsReconcile A/P aging schedules and general ledger balancesMaintain vendor records and compliance with W-9, W-8, 1099, and 1042-S requirementsProcess travel and corporate credit card reimbursementsResolve vendor inquiries and payment discrepanciesTrack and record applicable use tax obligationsMaintain documentation, filing systems, and cash receipt recordsReporting, Compliance & Audit SupportPrepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reportsAssist with financial statement, retirement plan, and single auditsDocument accounting procedures and internal controlsEnsure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standardsMonitor education benefit utilization and maintain supporting recordsProcess deposits and maintain cash receipt logsWhat We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications4-6 years of Staff Accountant experience in a corporate environmentExperience with the MIP Accounting SystemStrong understanding of payroll administration, regulations, and compliance requirementsAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and AccessStrong attention to detail and reconciliation experiencePreferred QualificationsNon-profit accounting experienceGeneral ledger and journal entry experienceProject accounting knowledgeAccounts payable and accounts receivable experienceMonth-end close and reporting experienceWorking knowledge of AP Aging, W-9, W-8, 1099, and 1042-S requirementsWhy You'll Love This OpportunitySupport an organization making a real difference in cancer researchHybrid work schedule with work-life balanceCollaborative and mission-focused cultureOpportunity to transition into a permanent roleComprehensive benefits upon permanent hire, including:Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurancePaid holidays and generous PTORetirement plan contributionsContinuing education reimbursementProfessional growth opportunitiesReady to put your accounting expertise to work for a meaningful cause?
