Legal Practice Assistant

Prominent law firm in Charleston SC is seeking an experienced Legal Practice Assistant to join their team. The ideal candidate could be a recent college graduate with some legal experience. The company is looking for someone eager to learn who is organized and tech savvy with good communication skills.

This is a direct hire position with a salary between $55,000 - $62,000 based on experience with excellent benefits in Charleston SC. This is a full onsite position.

Responsibilities will include time entry, billing, preparing correspondence with clients, external counsel, courts and court administration, proofreading, formatting and preparing multi-state and federal legal filings, filing legal documents (including e-filing), docket management, making travel arrangements, assisting with scheduling/calendar, proofreading and redlining documents and preparing closing binders.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic self-starter with excellent MS Office, typing, proofreading and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize work. Must be able to handle deadlines and maintain a high level of confidentiality. Must have a professional demeanor to work well with all levels of staff attorneys and our clients. Also, must have the ability and willingness to work well under pressure and at times more than the standard work schedule to accomplish responsibilities of the position. A high school diploma or the equivalent required; 4-year degree preferred, with at least 1-2 years of legal experience.
