Salary: $43,121 - $84,127 per year (based on .75 FTE) with employer‑paid retirement and benefits. Hours: 30 hours per week, 192 days per year. Overview The teacher works under the supervision of a principal or designated supervisor, responsible for instruction and supervision of students. Duties include facilitating student success in academic and interpersonal skills, teaching within the district‑approved curriculum, ensuring a safe learning environment, and providing feedback to students, parents, and administration. The teacher is expected to uphold the competent educator standards set by the Oregon Administrative Rules. Essential Job Responsibilities Instruct students to improve academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills through a defined course of study. Use state and district adopted curriculum and set goals. Identify group and individual student needs and provide continuous assessment. Motivate students and communicate with individuals from varied cultural backgrounds. Promote high levels of achievement in relation to individual student abilities. Apply techniques and methodologies appropriate to student abilities. Use research‑based principles of effective instruction. Organize instruction using clear learning objectives and defined student outcomes. Employ teaching strategies congruent with planned student outcomes. Select strategies emphasizing student involvement. Assess students to provide feedback on progress, expectations, and goals. Monitor student learning and pace instruction accordingly. Document student progress and provide timely feedback to students, parents, and staff. Develop and maintain an environment conducive to effective learning. Create written classroom behavior rules and communicate them to all students. Enforce written behavior rules. Communicate course goals and academic expectations. Ensure health and safety of students in all instructional settings. Supervise students inside and outside the classroom and report incidents as required. Job Requirements A valid Oregon teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement from the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC). Responsibility to maintain license and renewal credits. Ability to prepare effectively for class. Ability to develop and communicate appropriate grading standards. Maintain positive interpersonal relationships. Document student progress. Knowledge of age‑appropriate teaching methods and state curriculum framework. Multicultural competency. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual. Additional endorsement in ESOL or Reading. Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies. RTI experience. Sheltered Instruction / SIOP experience. Differentiated instruction experience. Professional Learning Communities experience.
