Provides supervision of staff in the absence of Coordinator/Director. Provides respiratory care to patients. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.\n General Functions:\n \n Assists with directing/supervising all aspects of respiratory care to include diagnostic test of the cardio-pulmonary system according to policy and procedures under the direction of the Medical Director, Department Director/Coordinator\n \n Department/Business Unit Functions:\n \n Participates in peer interviewing\n Supervises, to include discipline, supports and coaches staff in absence of Coordinator/Director\n Responds proactively to employee needs and concerns\n Assists with development of staff throughout the department\n Facilitates consensus among divergent groups\n Minimizes staff turnover\n Provides input regarding performance for evaluations\n Supports competency plans\n Responds to emergency situations\n Maintains competencies to ensure compliance with all regulatory statutes\n Administers medication and treatments in accordance with policies\n Makes rounds to adequately maintain patient’s equipment, therapeutic listings\n Reports identified unusual patient conditions/reaction to immediate supervisor\n Prepares electronic documentation of all work/service rendered and provides written/verbal report to oncoming staff\n Performs quality control on all Respiratory Care equipment\n Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively\n Maintains safe environment\n Addresses patient population-specific needs\n Participates in Performance Improvement activities\n \n MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited AMA Respiratory Care program\n MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 1 year of respiratory care clinical experience.\n PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Supervisory experience\n REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Possession of current RCP State of Texas License, Possession of current CRT / RRT Certification from NBRC Renewal required every 5 years unless grandfathered prior to July 1, 2002)\n REQUIRED COURSES/COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR):\n \n BLS-Obtained through approved American Heart Association Training Center or the Military Training Network \n ACLS-required for Adult EMERGENT Airway Team within 6 months of hire or transfer to position\n NRP-required for Neonatal within 6 months of hire date or transfer into position\n PALS- required for PICU within 6 months of hire date or transfer into position\n \n #LI-JH5\n \n Baptist Health System - San Antonio TX Job ID #View phone number on click.appcast.io.
