Rhino Medical is seeking experienced Physician Assistants with inpatient Hospital Medicine experience for an ongoing locum tenens program in Fresno, California .

This is a different kind of Hospitalist PA assignment.

Instead of being tied to one hospital and one census, providers complete one credentialing process for access to multiple Fresno-area hospitals , creating a larger pool of available shifts and greater potential for consistent, long-term scheduling.

The clinical model is focused primarily on inpatient cross-coverage, observation medicine, complex patient management, Rapid Response support, and care coordination—not high-volume admissions or procedures.

Available Shift Models
Coverage varies by hospital and may include:

• Days: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
• Swing: 12:00 PM–12:00 AM
• Nights: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM

Providers may work across different inpatient environments depending on scheduling and coverage needs.

What You'll Do
Depending on facility and shift, responsibilities may include:

• Inpatient cross-coverage
• Observation patient management
• Long Length-of-Stay patient management
• Hospitalist rounding and follow-up
• Rapid Response participation
• Complex medical management
• Goals-of-Care and End-of-Life discussions
• Family and interdisciplinary care conferences
• Patient progression and discharge planning
• Medical consultation within a behavioral health setting
• Epic documentation and order management

Night coverage is primarily cross-cover focused, with admissions handled by physician teams at applicable sites.

No procedures are required. Code Blue management is supported by Critical Care teams.

Practice Across Multiple Hospital Settings
One credentialing process provides the opportunity to support multiple Fresno-area facilities, including:

• A major tertiary referral hospital with Level I Trauma and comprehensive specialty resources
• A large community hospital managing medically complex adult patients
• Observation and inpatient medicine services
• Hospital Medicine consultation within a behavioral health environment

All participating facilities utilize Epic EMR .

Who We're Seeking
This opportunity is best suited for an experienced inpatient Physician Assistant who can confidently manage medically complex adult patients.

Required / Strongly Preferred:

• Active California Physician Assistant license
• ACLS
• Recent inpatient clinical experience
• Hospital Medicine experience strongly preferred
• Comfortable with inpatient cross-coverage
• Experience participating in Rapid Responses
• Strong clinical judgment and escalation skills
• Comfortable managing complex adult medicine
• Strong interdisciplinary and family communication skills

New graduates are not appropriate for this assignment.

This role is particularly well aligned with PAs currently practicing in Hospital Medicine or inpatient Internal Medicine .
