Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit - Travel Registered Nurse

Experience:

• 24 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 22 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience worked in the last 12 months.

• Travel experience is preferred.

• Experience with Epic is required.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Ohio license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <60 miles from facility will be processed as local.

• 6 months gap required between for Any Contract Type at Program: Aya Program - James Cancer Hospital and Research and no current placement allowed at Program: Aya Program - James Cancer Hospital and Research.

Additional Details:

Required Credentials: Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program.

Required Skills/Experience: PCU experience not required; travelers will only care for MS/Tele patients and can be considered with MS/Tele experience only.

Preferred Skills/Experience: 2 years of oncology experience preferred, but not required. Teaching hospital experience is preferred.

Unit Details: Mixed acuity PCU/MS Tele unit caring for medical oncology patients. Adult and geriatric medical oncology patient population with diagnoses ranging from solid tumors to some blood cancers; rare pediatric patients are typically cared for by permanent staff, and pediatric experience is not required for agency RNs on this unit. High acuity patient population. Ratios: PCU 1:3, MS Tele 1:4-5; staffing ratios may vary based on unit needs. Heavy focus on infection prevention and fall prevention protocols. Uses GE telemetry monitor system, bladder scanner, Alaris pumps, continuous bladder irrigation, and PCA pumps.

Shift & Scheduling: Day shift 07:00-19:30 or night shift 19:00-07:30. If you accept a 12D/N rotating contract, you may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination of both, depending on the department’s needs. Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period, but changes are not guaranteed and are based on staffing priorities at that time. Weekend shifts are variable.

Floating Requirements: Required to float to other MS Tele units of equivalent or lower level of acuity.

Special Requests: References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years. Labs must be completed within 48 hours of signing. Cannot apply to any James Cancer Hospital & Research facilities if you have an active application to any Ohio State University facilities.

• AUTO OFFER - NO INTERVIEW : This is an auto-offer position. You will likely not interview with the facility prior to receiving an offer. However, an interview can be arranged upon request. All time off requests must be submitted at application. Scheduling requests must be worked out with the manager directly upon starting the assignment. Any offers for this job will require a clear “Yes” or “No” response from the nurse within 24hrs or the offer must be declined.
