GMP Calibration & Deviation Technician

Location: Greater Tampa Bay Area, FL
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Work Arrangement: Onsite
Local Candidates Only: Candidates must currently reside within a reasonable driving distance of the Greater Tampa Bay Area.

Automated Systems, Inc. (ASI) is seeking a GMP Calibration & Deviation Technician to support one of our clients at their pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in the Greater Tampa Bay Area, FL.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on, detail-oriented technician who understands the importance of maintaining accurate calibration records and effectively managing deviations within a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment. The ability to investigate issues, document findings clearly, and work effectively with Quality and technical teams is essential.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a regulated manufacturing environment and possess strong attention to detail, technical documentation skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Maintenance teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform, coordinate, and document calibration activities for process, manufacturing, facility, and laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
• Support scheduled and unscheduled calibration activities, including troubleshooting calibration issues and identifying equipment requiring adjustment or repair.
• Review calibration results and ensure activities are completed in accordance with GMP requirements, SOPs, and site procedures.
• Initiate, investigate, and document deviations, discrepancies, and calibration-related events.
• Assist with root-cause investigations and the development of appropriate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Review equipment and instrument records to ensure calibration and maintenance documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant.
• Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Engineering, Maintenance, Manufacturing, and other site teams to resolve equipment and calibration issues.
• Support investigations involving out-of-tolerance (OOT) conditions and assess potential impacts to equipment, processes, and product quality.
• Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
• Support audit and inspection readiness by ensuring calibration and deviation records are complete, current, and readily retrievable.
• Follow all applicable safety, environmental, quality, and GMP requirements.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to calibration, equipment reliability, deviation management, and compliance.

Education, Experience & Qualifications

• Associate degree, technical degree, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience preferred.
• Technical certification in Calibration, Metrology, Instrumentation, or a related field is a plus.
• 2+ years of experience in calibration, metrology, maintenance, engineering, quality, or a related technical discipline within a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or life sciences environment.
• Hands-on experience calibrating process or facility instrumentation.
• Experience with GMP documentation and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
• Experience supporting or conducting deviation investigations, root-cause analysis, and CAPA is highly preferred.
• Working knowledge of GMP regulations and quality systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents, equipment manuals, SOPs, and calibration procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with a CMMS, calibration management system, or electronic quality management system (eQMS) is a plus.
