Quality Assurance Technician I

Quality Assurance Technician I is an entry‑level position responsible for conducting routine QA testing and inspections to determine specification compliance of aggregate and aggregate‑based products. The role may involve either rock plant or geology materials technician duties. Duties Conduct various aggregate and aggregate‑based material quality tests using several sample testing procedures. Organize testing results and prepare reporting information for Teichert Aggregates personnel. Obtain samples from production facilities. Maintain regular communication with plant personnel and/or supervisor to report material acceptability and test results. Organize and clean the QA lab. Communicate with inspectors regarding the transfer of samples. Deliver samples to locations as directed. Monitor and assist summer interns. Promote a Zero Injury culture through adherence to all company safety policies and practices. Qualifications and Requirements Education: High School diploma or G.E.D. or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience. Experience: 0–2 years of work experience; industry experience not required. Mathematical aptitude and ability to learn computer‑aided test data analysis programs. Basic computer software skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Willing and able to learn aggregate testing technology. Mechanical ability to maintain and repair plant equipment related to QA testing and processing. Judgment and prioritization skills to manage multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines. Team‑work orientation and effective working relationships with all levels of customers, staff, and management. Strong verbal and written communication skills; proficient in spoken and written English. Valid California Driver License with an acceptable driving record. Successful candidate will obtain Caltrans JTCP Certification HMA I within six months of employment and will possess a valid HMA I certification. Work outdoors for long periods, varying shift levels (day, swing, night). Plant locations may contain dust, fumes, debris, medium to loud noise, extreme weather, and hot material samples. Travel may be required to other locations, site facilities, or educational seminars. Typical office environment with adequate temperatures and lighting; lab testing environment may contain dust and medium to loud noise with temperature variations. Some locations may require ladder climbing and work at elevated heights.
