Phlebotomist (Lab Assistant)

Overview Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for a Part‑Time Lab Tech (Phlebotomist) to support our office located in Virginia Beach. Responsibilities Collect viable and appropriate specimens from patients as ordered and perform specimen analysis of all chemistry, hematology, and immunology specimens as directed. Assist with testing procedures. Maintain appropriate documentation including test report logs, quality control logs, equipment records, and checklists. Send specimens to reference labs for any testing not performed in‑house and process incoming orders for lab testing. Update and file all daily paperwork, lab logs, and maintenance logs. Operate designated laboratory equipment as directed and perform appropriate instrument maintenance as indicated. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of one year phlebotomy experience strongly preferred. Must be willing to travel between sites as needed. Requires corrected vision, color perception and hearing to normal range. Requires legible handwriting.
