Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Labor and Delivery for a travel nursing job in San Luis Obispo, California.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: Labor and Delivery\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: 09/14/2026\n Duration: 13 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, nights\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs\n Hours: 36 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Sep 14, 2026\n Length: 13 weeks\n Openings: 1\n Description\n American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery/Postpartum position requiring a CA RN license and prior L&D/PP nursing experience.Details\n \n Acute care Labor & Delivery/Postpartum unit with 9 L&D beds and 4 postpartum beds\n Approximately 55 births per month\n Night shift, 12-hour shifts from 6p-6a, 36 hours per week\n Every other weekend required\n No on-call requirement\n Float required between Postpartum and L&D units\n Uses Cerner EMR\n Uses Philips telemetry and FetaLink fetal monitoring system\n Unit-specific orientation consists of 3 shifts\n Cares for patients 34 weeks gestation and above, including high-risk deliveries\n Charge nurse does not carry a patient assignment\n OB tech support available on both day and night shifts\n OB/Neonatologist available on-call\n Respiratory Therapy available 24/7\n Pharmacy not available 24/7; after-hours coverage provided via Marian after 10pm\n Requirements\n \n Active CA RN license required\n 2+ years of L&D/PP nursing experience required\n Must be able to circulate for C-sections\n Experience in both L&D and Postpartum required for floating eligibility\n Current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Advanced Fetal Monitoring certifications required\n AWHONN certification required\n COVID vaccine required\n Copy of driver's license required for consideration\n Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility\n Additional Information\n \n First-time travelers will not be considered for this position\n Travel nursing experience is preferred\n Holiday coverage worked in rotation with permanent staff\n Hospital-provided scrubs required\n Follows AWHONN staffing ratio guidelines\n Candidates may not have been directly employed by any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-748877.
