Nephrology - Physician

Position Summary CHOC Specialists is seeking a Board Certified/Eligible Pediatric Nephrologist to join a close‑knit 5‑physician division. This role offers an opportunity to provide patient‑ and family‑centered care to a rapidly expanding population with a broad spectrum of renal diseases, including chronic kidney disease and nephropathy. Responsibilities Provide inpatient consultation services for medical/surgical units, PICU, NICU, CVICU, and oncology teams. Provide acute inpatient dialysis. Attend outpatient clinics, including multidisciplinary nephrology clinics and outreach clinics in Newport Beach, Irvine, Mission Viejo, Corona, and Whittier. Participate in rheumatology/nephrology, tuberous sclerosis, fetal center, and TMA multidisciplinary clinics. Contribute to the development of our new pediatric chronic dialysis unit, the only pediatric dialysis unit in Orange County. Collaborate with local transplant centers for pre‑transplant coordination and continuity. Participate in CME activities, including pathology/nephrology conference, radiology/urology/nephrology conference, fetal center conferences, grand rounds, resident noon conference, and community physician presentations. Teach and mentor medical students and pediatric residents. Engage in clinical research and scholarly activities, with opportunity for academic appointment at UC Irvine. Participate in CHOC Specialist and hospital committees, program development, operations, and quality improvement initiatives. Collaborate with Rady Children’s San Diego colleagues across the unified RCH enterprise. Qualifications Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school. Board Certified/Eligible in Pediatric Nephrology. Completion of an accredited Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship. Valid California medical license (or eligibility to obtain one). Strong clinical acumen. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Dedication to compassionate, patient‑centered care. Commitment to lifelong learning and professional development. Experience in scholarly work or interest in expanding research involvement. Compensation Salary, benefits, and academic range are competitive and commensurate with experience.
