SHIPPING SUPERVISOR

 

Job Summary

Cresline Plastic Pipe Co., Inc., a leading manufacturer of plastic pipe seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Shipping Supervisor to oversee daily shipping operations, inventory accuracy, and yard/warehouse safety at our plastic pipe manufacturing facility in Henderson, KY. In this role, you will lead a team of shipping team members to ensure finished extruded pipe products—ranging from bundled PVC and coiled Polyetelene —are safely handled, staged, loaded, and dispatched on time to distributors and job sites.

Key Responsibilities

 

• Operational Leadership: Direct and coordinate the daily activities of the shipping department, including staging, loading, flatbed strapping, and inventory control.

 

• Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict OSHA guidelines, company safety policies, and proper PPE standards across the shipping yard and warehouse. Ensure safe material handling, bundling, and flatbed trailer load-securing practices.

 

• Logistics & Dispatch: Collaborate with logistics providers, freight carriers, and internal customer service teams to schedule pickups, verify bills of lading (BOLs), and optimize delivery schedules.

 

• Inventory & Yard Management: Oversee raw material receiving and finished product staging. Conduct cycle counts, manage yard layout for maximum storage efficiency, and reconcile physical inventory against ERP/WMS systems.

 

• Team Supervision & Development: Lead, train, and mentor shipping department staff. Manage employee schedules, monitor performance, enforce attendance policies, and conduct performance evaluations.

 

• Continuous Improvement: Identify operational bottlenecks, streamline loading workflows, minimize product damage during transport, and implement lean warehouse practices.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

 

• Experience: 3–5+ years of supervisory experience in shipping, warehouse, or yard operations within a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment (plastics, pipe, building materials, or steel preferred).

 

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Business Administration is a plus.

 

• Equipment Knowledge: Strong proficiency in operating and training others on heavy-duty forklifts (5k–15k+ lbs), yard trucks, and specialized pipe-handling attachments.

 

• Technical Skills: Familiarity with ERP/WMS software (e.g., SAP, Dayforce, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite.

 

• Physical & Environmental Demands: Ability to work in an indoor/outdoor environment exposed to seasonal weather conditions. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand, walk, and operate equipment for extended periods.
