In this crucial role, assist individuals in developing independent living skills to increase their self-sufficiency, self-esteem, and self-worth. You provide hands-on training and assist with the activities of daily living as well as provide counseling, behavioral intervention, and crisis management for adults living with severe mental illness. ResponsibilitiesParticipate in the planning/evaluation of individual service plans and monitor plan objectivesHands-on training and assisting residents in the activities for daily living and documenting interactionResponsible for accompanying residents on recreational outings and travel training exercisesProvide counseling, behavioral intervention, and crisis managementAssist in the day-to-day management of the community residenceResponsible for administration of residence in the absence of the Assistant AdministratorNotify the Assistant Administrator/Residential Administrator of any medical/psychiatric emergencyProvide transportation as needed for shopping, medical appointments, etc.Write progress notes on residents' activities on a daily basisMonitors management of medicationInvolved with the cleanliness of the residenceResponsible for maintenance and cleanliness of staff officeAdvocate for residents' benefitsTeach residents the skills needed to gain independenceCoordinate staff contacts with local service providers as needed to assist residents in accessing services and to plan for discharge jointlyWork with support services on behalf of the residents' best interestAssist and or model the various techniques required to maintain a clean and healthy living environmentResponsible for other related activitiesIf you're passionate about making a difference and contributing to our mission, we want to hear from you. Apply now and make your career as meaningful as our mission!RequirementsHigh School Diploma or equivalent with related experience requiredBachelor's Degree in Human Services preferredRelated experience working with people living with mental illness or other disabilities that require assistance in day to day living highly preferredPhysical Requirements: Sits, stands, stoops, squats, walks, and moves intermittently during work hours, may push or pull 10-15 pounds daily, may push or pull up to 50 pounds occasionally.A valid NYS Driver's License in good standingShift #2: Wednesday 12:30pm-10pm, Thursday 8am-6pm, Friday 7am-5pm, Saturday 7am-5pm Location: Westbury Community ResidenceFull Benefits Package including Medical, Company-Paid Dental and Vision Single Coverage.
