SQL Database Developer

Accentuate Staffing is working with an insurance organization in the Raleigh, NC area that is hiring a Database Developer for its internal IT team. This role will support the organization’s SQL Server environment and business intelligence reporting needs. The developer will build and maintain database objects, data integration processes, reports, and queries that help the business use its data effectively.

This role is a good fit for someone with hands-on SQL Server development experience who is comfortable working across database development, reporting, ETL, and performance tuning. The right person should be able to take ownership of assigned work, prioritize deadlines, communicate clearly with IT and business stakeholders, and contribute ideas for improving database processes and the broader data platform.

Responsibilities:

• Create and maintain T-SQL stored procedures, functions, triggers, and related database objects that support business rules and data processes.
• Develop and support SSIS packages, ETL processes, SQL Agent jobs, and other scheduled database workflows.
• Build and maintain SSRS reports and write ad hoc queries for business and IT needs.
• Design, update, and support relational database models and schemas.
• Tune query performance, troubleshoot database issues, and recommend improvements to existing processes and the overall platform.
• Follow IT best practices while collaborating with team members, team leads, and management to complete database and reporting work.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
• 2+ years of experience developing with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL.
• 2+ years of experience with Microsoft BI technologies, including SSRS, SSIS, and SSAS.
• Understanding of data warehousing concepts, methodology, data architecture, and relational database design.
• Ability to organize work, meet deadlines, communicate effectively, and contribute as part of an IT team.
• Insurance industry experience is a plus; experience with XML, AS400, .NET, C#, Java, shell scripting, or object-oriented design is also preferred.
