Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)

Job Description

This position requires previous experience as a permanent employee within any affiliated healthcare facility, with a minimum separation from the health system of three months to qualify for a travel role. This role is in a Level III or IV NICU environment, accommodating neonates born as early as 23-24 weeks gestation.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care to neonates.
• Administer CPAP/BiPap, High-Frequency Vents, Oscillators, and other ventilatory support.
• Oversee blood and blood products administration, including cardioversion and defibrillation.
• Utilize cooling and warming blankets as required.
• Manage feeding tubes, PICC/Central Lines, and syringe pumps.
• Attend high-risk deliveries and neonatal surgeries.
• Participate in a block schedule if preferred, with the ability to work multiple consecutive shifts.
• May be required to float to nearby campuses, including Pediatric and Newborn nurseries.

Qualifications

• Experience: A minimum of 3 years in Level III NICU or at least 2 years in Level IV NICU.
• Certifications: BLS, NRP.
• Skills: Proficiency in neonatal dosage calculations, ventilator management, and caring for neonates aged 29-34 weeks and above.
• Charting System Experience: Familiarity with Epic is preferred.

Unit Details

• Patient Age Groups: Neonates and Infants.
• Daily Census: Average of 50 patients.
• Facility Capacity: 77 beds available in the unit.
• Interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services.

Additional Information

• Travelers are generally not responsible for admitting babies, as a dedicated Admit Nurse is assigned.
• If required, floating between sister facilities may be expected.
• Travelers must commit to working three of the five major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day).
