Job Title: Communications and Events Manager Location: Remote within 50 miles of Milwaukee to support in-person events and attend occasional in-person meetings Reports To: Executive Director Type: Full-Time | Exempt About the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation Since 1971, the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation has been dedicated to our mission, working to prevent cancer, provide the best care to patients, and ultimately find a cure by funding innovative cancer research and treatment programs through our annual grant making process. Inspired by the legendary Coach Vince Lombardi, nearly $25 million has been raised since our founding to fund ground-breaking research programs, compassionate patient care, and early detection programs. In 2025, the Foundation implemented a new strategic plan that emphasizes community partnerships to raise awareness and funds through impactful events and campaigns. Position Summary The Communications and Events Manager plays a vital role in advancing VLCF’s mission by leading the planning, execution, and promotion of signature events and communications initiatives. This role requires a mission-centered strategic thinker with strong project management skills and a heart for community engagement. Key Responsibilities Communications & Marketing (50%) Develop and implement integrated marketing and communication strategies to promote VLCF’s mission, events, and impact. Manage contractors and vendors to oversee content creation for digital platforms, including website, email newsletters, and social media. Oversee media relations and press release distribution to highlight grantees, events, and community impact. Maintain brand consistency across all channels and materials. Event Management (40%) Plan and manage the execution of VLCF’s annual fundraising events, including the Lombardi Golf Classic, Award of Excellence Dinner, Lombardi Southwest Open, and Food & Wine Experience. Manage event timelines, budgets, vendor relationships, registration, and logistics. Ensure sponsor benefit fulfillment and a high-quality guest experience. Track event performance metrics and provide post-event analysis and reporting. Administrative Project Management (10%) Maintain project plans and calendars to ensure timely execution of initiatives. Support financial processes and monthly financial reconciliation. Schedule meetings and coordinate logistics for committees and grant review process. Assist with donor stewardship and community outreach efforts. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, or related field. 5+ years of experience in event planning, marketing, or nonprofit communications. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in fundraising and digital marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact, Squarespace, Bloomerang, social media). Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. Passion for making a difference in the fight against cancer. Preferred Skills Experience working in a nonprofit or healthcare-related organization. Familiarity with donor databases (e.g., DonorSnap, Blackbaud, Salesforce). Familiarity with design software (e.g. Canva, Adobe Design Suite). Graphic design or video editing exprience a plus. Why Join Us?
