ServiceNow Architect
The Senior ServiceNow Architect will lead solution architecture, technical design, and platform governance for enterprise ServiceNow solutions. This role will work closely with business analysts, process owners, IT teams, and other stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable, secure, and maintainable platform solutions that improve workflow efficiency, user experience, security, and operational performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the design and architecture of scalable ServiceNow solutions aligned with business objectives, ITIL practices, platform standards, and long-term maintainability.
- Partnering with business analysts, process owners, and IT teams to deliver high-quality ServiceNow applications, workflows, and platform enhancements.
- Owning technical design decisions and providing recommendations that balance business needs, platform scalability, security, maintainability, and long-term supportability.
- Analyzing requirements, configuring and enhancing new and existing applications, and creating custom UI pages, widgets, workflows, and automation.
- Building and managing Service Catalogs, supporting accurate CMDB data, and implementing IT Operations Management solutions across ITSM, ITOM, SecOps, CSM, SPM, SAM, and related modules.
- Creating and maintaining custom applications, Service Catalog items, fulfillment workflows, self-service portals, and related platform components.
- Monitoring platform health, troubleshooting issues, and optimizing ServiceNow performance while supporting security and compliance requirements.
- Developing and maintaining technical documentation, supporting testing plans, troubleshooting defects, and helping ensure application quality.
- Providing technical guidance to development team members and contributing to continuous improvement efforts.
- Implementing SecOps modules, supporting IT operations automation using AIOps and monitoring integrations, and delivering solutions that meet customer and business needs.
- Staying current with ServiceNow capabilities, emerging technologies, and platform best practices to support innovation and operational excellence.
- Leading solution architecture, technical design, and platform roadmap recommendations for ServiceNow initiatives.
- Defining and documenting technical architecture, integration patterns, data flows, and solution designs.
- Evaluating requests for platform fit, scalability, maintainability, security, and alignment with ServiceNow best practices.
- Leading design reviews and providing platform governance to help ensure solutions avoid unnecessary customization and reduce technical debt.
- Supporting integrations between ServiceNow and enterprise systems using REST/SOAP APIs, IntegrationHub, MID Server, or other integration tools.
- Providing guidance on platform upgrades, release planning, technical debt reduction, and long-term maintainability.
- Supporting work in alignment with internal standards, security expectations, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Required experience includes:
- 3 or more years of recent experience in an IT Architect role.
- 6 or more years of IT experience working with ServiceNow configuration, scripting, and development.
- Experience with ServiceNow modules and capabilities such as ITSM, ITOM, GRC/IRM, SecOps, CSM, SPM, SAM, CMDB, CSDM, Discovery, and Service Mapping.
- Proficiency working with ITIL frameworks, automation, and cloud environments such as AWS and Azure.
- Proven experience designing and implementing ITOM solutions.
- Experience designing ServiceNow solutions in a complex enterprise environment with multiple stakeholder groups, integrations, and governance requirements.
- Experience leading ServiceNow architecture and solution design efforts, not only configuration and development work.
Required skills include:
- Strong knowledge of ServiceNow platform architecture, data model, ACLs/security, workflows, Flow Designer, integrations, CMDB, and CSDM concepts.
- Experience with integrations using REST/SOAP APIs, IntegrationHub, MID Server, or similar technologies.
- Experience with ServiceNow governance, platform standards, upgrade planning, release management, and technical debt reduction.
- Ability to create solution design documents, technical specifications, architecture diagrams, process flows, and implementation guidance.
- Professional-level English verbal and written communication skills required.
- Proven ability to influence internal stakeholders and explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Preferred skills include:
- Proven ServiceNow Architect who is comfortable working onsite and open to future regular full-time employment opportunities, if available.
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator certification.
- ServiceNow Certified Application Developer certification.
- ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist certification in ITSM, ITOM, or a related module.
- ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect certification is a strong plus.
Important notes include:
- Candidates must complete the ServiceNow Architect Questionnaire and submit the completed questionnaire with their candidate submittal.
- This is a contract-to-hire position. The intention is to transition the contractor to full-time employment after 6 months.
- Must be onsite in Houston, TX or Bartlesville, OK — 4 days per week. No remote work available.
- Interview process: 2 rounds, both virtual. First interview is general (1 person); second interview is technical (with the team).
