Adjunct Instructor, Horticulture-Intro to Wine

Job Overview Adjunct Instructor, Horticulture – Intro to Wine at the University of Cincinnati, School of Planning, College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning. This is an introduction to wine course covering the influence of culture, history, geography, and economies on winemaking. Through readings, discussion, and tasting, students review wine production, winemaking, health issues, sensory responses, food pairings, and the impact of viticulture, terroir, vintage, clonal origin, and country of origin on flavor and texture. Students will learn to describe vinification steps, viticulture functions, enology science including fermentation, chemistry, and zymology, grape varietal flavors and origins, and microbiology of olfactory and taste perception. They will critique a wine for color, flavor, texture, smell, and flaws. Essential Functions On a part‑time basis, conduct and teach assigned undergraduate and/or graduate‑level courses and seminars. May serve as an academic advisor for students and evaluate student coursework. Engage in other activities ancillary to or in support of responsibilities. Review, and where necessary, respond in a timely manner to all University‑related communications. Other related duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Horticulture, Agriculture, or Environmental Science related to course content and five years relevant experience – OR – master’s degree in the same fields related to course content.
