Sales Tax Accountant

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Accurate and timely preparation of sales/use tax returns and other miscellaneous tax filings to ensure accurate and timely tax compliance.
• Responsible for timely remittance of sales/use tax.
• Review and sign sales tax returns prepared monthly by Tax Accountant(s) and Senior Tax Accountant(s). Supervise the Accountants' training and oversee their return preparation process.
• Provide guidance (together with Senior Manager, Tax) for all sales tax-related matters as they impact LeaseWave, Vertex O series, and ancillary platforms.
• Together with Senior Manager, Tax, update tax assist rules, lookup tables, mappings and drivers in Vertex O series as required.
• Develop and audit high-level test plans to assist in ensuring correct tax outcomes.
• Educate all personnel within CFS on sales tax-related procedures. Conduct ongoing training sessions for all CFS business personnel, and serve as primary sales tax advisory point person for all sales tax questions.
• Perform monthly general ledger account reconciliations.
• Responsible for completing customer (internal & external) requests in a timely manner.
• Assist the Senior Tax Manager with sales tax audits, including gathering information required by the auditor; Advise how issues identified during an audit should be resolved (e.g., protested, paid).
• Train and mentor associates throughout the organization to understand sales tax implications of their specific roles and tasks.
• Participates in various tax projects and research tax issues, as necessary.
• Keeps abreast of tax law changes. Performs tax research, and documents necessary changes and updates to business rules.
• Identify and assist with the implementation of process improvement ideas in sales tax filing and remittance procedures.
• Ensure sales tax downloads from leasing software are performed when necessary, and are reconciled to various internal reports.
• Ensure sales tax software is processed with most recent updates.

Qualifications:

• BS in Accounting, CPA preferred.
• 5-7 years in sales tax related field
• Knowledge of Vertex and Vertex Indirect Returns strongly preferred
• Knowledge of Leasewave a plus
• Background in leasing is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $91,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
