Transmission Planning Advisor Join the Clean Energy Revolution at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this role you will serve as a lead on multiple highly technical, time‑critical projects and will plan, design, and oversee the installation of new sub‑transmission lines as well as the realignment of existing easements for third‑party relocations. Your work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions, and create cleaner air for everyone. Responsibilities Develop and design plans for the company's electrical transmission, sub‑transmission, and distribution systems, identifying necessary resources and providing cost estimates and options for construction. Coordinate tasks with internal staff to ensure projects are completed correctly and on time while meeting industry design standards and safety regulations. Oversee environmental permitting and planning efforts for government, internal, and privately owned infrastructure projects. Provide direction and support, assessing and managing the workload and performance of the team, and provide training when necessary. Identify system and field risks and evaluate the benefits of proposed mitigation projects, and provide design engineering, cost estimates, and project management activities for overhead and underground, transmission, sub‑transmission, and distribution systems. Lead the review of planning and system performance studies for compliance with prevailing standards and criteria. Lead environmental planning and permitting work with a multi‑disciplinary team throughout the life cycle of a project, serving as the single point of contact for Operations through the construction phase and providing support for maintenance‑related projects. Maintain integral system circuit mapping for both overhead and underground facilities. Perform field inspections to gather data relevant to the planning and development review process and verify that projects comply with approved plans. Manage digital and geospatial records of Transmission, Sub‑Transmission, and Distribution assets to ensure accuracy and timely reporting to internal groups and outside agencies. Protect the company's physical, financial, and cybersecurity assets and properly manage private customer data, proprietary information, and other highly sensitive data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity. Minimum Qualifications Five or more years of experience in Electrical Utility Distribution/Transmission/Telecommunication Design, Distribution/Transmission/Telecommunication Line Construction, or Engineering discipline. Valid Class C Driver's License. Preferred Qualifications Advanced knowledge of engineering principles, construction standards, and industry practices. Experience designing and leading complex technical projects and making strategic decisions related to scope, impacts, policy, and implementation. Proficiency with advanced design and planning tools (e.g., AUD, SPIDA, AutoCAD, Design Manager). Experience providing technical oversight, reviewing complex designs, and ensuring quality and accuracy. Experience managing multiple or sensitive projects under tight timelines. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle difficult stakeholder issues independently. Strong cross‑functional coordination skills with Operations, Engineering, Environmental, and other teams. Experience managing customer or stakeholder interactions in a technical, construction, or utility environment. Knowledge of ROW acquisition practices, transmission construction expertise, and electrical/structural engineering principles. Knowledge of design standards for Transmission, Distribution & Telecom. Experience reviewing maps, verifying quality, and quality control. Additional Information The position is hybrid. Employees will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days and have the option to work remotely for the remaining days. Employees are required to work and reside in California unless otherwise noted. The primary work location is the Northern Trans Sub Regional Office (Valencia, CA), but the successful candidate may also be asked to work at alternate locations as needed. This role requires up to 25% travel and field work within the SCE service territory. There is an option for a 9/80 Alternate Work Schedule or a standard 40‑hour/5‑day week. Qualification with arrest or conviction records will be considered in accordance with the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers and the California Fair Chance Act.
