Project Manager - Building Design

Project Manager – Building Design HDR is seeking an experienced Project Manager for its Building Engineering Services Group in either the Charlotte or Raleigh office, North Carolina. The role involves leading design teams on facility projects through planning, design, permitting, and construction, while managing client development, budget, schedule, and quality within HDR’s project management framework. The ideal candidate holds at least 10 years of progressive experience, with a minimum of 5 years in project management, and is skilled in communicating with clients, leading multi‑discipline design teams, coordinating with sub‑consultants, delivering projects on time and within budget. Responsibilities Execute projects and manage/develop multidisciplinary teams, utilizing HDR’s business systems and project management tools. Build team technical expertise and design production capacity through recruitment, staff development, and training. Participate in leadership for external marketing and planning; occasionally travel regionally or nationally. Perform contract preparation and negotiation, scheduling, budgeting, invoicing, and project quality control. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. 10 years of related experience. 5 years of project management experience. PE license preferred; local candidates preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent leadership and planning skills with ability to thrive in a team environment. Strong skills in preparing client presentations, project memoranda and reports. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field. 7 years of related experience. Minimum of 2 years of project management experience. Ability to interact with various design teams and possess excellent organizational, project management and communication skills.
