Epic Project ManagerLocation: La Mirada, CA 90638 (Remote)Duration: 12 weeksWork Schedule: Night (5x8 Hours) 19:00 7:00Position Overview:The Business Intelligence Developer creates analytics content for end users and third parties who require Epic data. The Business Intelligence Developer is critical in transforming healthcare data into actionable insights through the development of dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions using Epic's reporting tools. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Caboodle, and related tools, along with a strong understanding of healthcare operations and clinical workflows.Specific Skills Needed:Critical thinking and an analytical mindUser-focused design and data visualization skillsProficiency with SQL and relational database conceptsProficiency and demonstrated experience with analytics toolsFamiliarity with Epic applications and database structure, through training that occurs early in the implementationAbility to gain an in-depth understanding of the data model through data model classes geared toward content areasAbility to understand data structures that could benefit the entire data environmentEducation/Experience/Training:Required:3 years of experience and underClient’s internal applicants or Altera employees (working at Client as of May 2025), Epic certification in the required application/module must be obtained within 120 days of hire or transfer into the position. Failure to obtain certification within this timeframe may result in removal from the position; however, the employee will be eligible to apply for other internal openings for which they meet the minimum qualifications.Preferred:Bachelor’s degree in computer sciences, math, information systems, or statisticsExternal applicants: Possess active Epic certification in at least one of the below certifications:Epic Train Track: Access Data ModelEpic Train Track: Clinical Data ModelEpic Train Track: Revenue Data ModelEpic Train Track: Caboodle Development for Non-Epic DataEpic Train Track: Caboodle Development for Clarity DataEpic Cogito Data Model, Clarity Data Model and Caboodle Data ModelExperience working in a regulated environment (FDA, HIPPA)Analytics, SQL experience and developing in data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, etc.)Experience in a hospital and/or clinic settingDuties and Responsibilities:Safeguards and preserves the confidentiality of patient’s protected health information in accordance with State and Federal (HIPAA) regulatory requirements, hospital, and departmental policies.Ensures a safe patient environment and adherence to safety practices per policy.With consideration to age, employee utilizes the approved process to resolve biophysical, psychological, educational, and environmental needs of patient/significant other when administering care.Analyzing non-Caboodle datasets to identify required data elements to be moved into Caboodle.Mapping non-Epic datasets to existing database structures within Caboodle.Designing and developing custom database structures within Caboodle as needed.Developing custom imports to move additional pieces of Epic data from Clarity to Caboodle.Developing custom import packages to move non-Epic data into Caboodle.Designing data models to meet organization-specific goals and use cases.Leading decisions around coding practices and version control.Configuring and testing Epic-released and Foundation System content for all applications, including:Reporting WorkbenchSlicerDicerRadarCogito SQLCreating content to display Epic data from Chronicles, Clarity, and Caboodle.Writing SQL and configuring Radar settings for custom SQL metrics.Modifying existing reports, as necessary.Distributing analytics content to data consumers.Reviewing peer reports for validity.Working with subject matter experts to understand the needs of data consumers.Maintaining the Analytics Catalog and associated metadata records.Testing analytics build in a specified testing environment and volume testing in live environments.Reviewing upgrade documentation related to Cogito features and determining how to implement the changes.Also responsible for building and maintaining:CubesExtractsSlicerDicer custom filtersThird-party BI toolsEpic data in CaboodleProvide timely on-site and remote support to end users, including after-hours support.Perform other duties as assigned.
