ASCP Medical Technologist

ASCP Medical TechnologistWe are seeking a dedicated ASCP Medical Technologist to join our clinical laboratory team in a regional healthcare facility serving the Southern United States. This role involves operating and maintaining various laboratory equipment, performing quality control procedures, and accurately documenting workload and test results.Key Responsibilities:Receive, log, and process patient specimens, including centrifugation to separate components.Perform special chemistry tests and add reagents according to established protocols.Identify chemical compositions and monitor changes during testing.Calculate and document test results, ensuring accuracy and compliance with billing requirements.Notify healthcare providers promptly of critical test values following established emergency protocols.Maintain communication within the department and with supervisors to manage workload and ensure timely testing.Adhere to all safety and regulatory standards including CLIA, OSHA, and The Joint Commission.Stay informed on new testing methods, products, and instrumentation to continuously improve laboratory services.Education: A bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related field is typically required, along with ASCP certification or equivalent credentials.Experience: Prior experience in a clinical laboratory setting is preferred, demonstrating proficiency in specimen handling, quality control, and laboratory information systems.Requirements: Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt to changing workloads and priorities in a fast-paced environment.This position offers the opportunity to contribute to patient care by ensuring accurate and timely laboratory results in a supportive and safety-focused environment.
