HVAC Project Manager

Mechanical Installation ManagerDematic is seeking a Mechanical Installation Manager to support the Lifecycle Solutions and Services (LSS) Modernizations and Upgrades group. This role is responsible for managing full lifecycle installation activities, including pre-quote support, planning, execution, and commissioning of small to mid-sized projects. The Installation Manager will lead field resources, subcontractors, and installation teams while ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and Dematic installation standards. This role requires strong coordination with Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, and customers to successfully deliver projects on time and within budget. This position requires flexibility, including travel up to 25%, on-call responsibilities, and the ability to support off-shift and weekend work as needed.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Resource ManagementManage direct reports including supervisors, foremen, and crewsConduct performance reviews, coaching, and bi-weekly 1:1 meetingsLead hiring and interviewing activitiesManage manpower planning, headcount forecasting, and workforce allocationApprove employee timecards and expensesEnsure compliance with company policies and proceduresProject Management & ExecutionPlan and manage daily/weekly installation activities to meet project milestonesOversee mechanical, electrical, and mechatronics pre-commissioning activitiesPerform cost reviews and track installation financial performancePrepare and review quotes, RFQs, and bid packagesSupport Sales (SDG) with estimates and customer-driven solutionsForecast monthly installation costs and maintain reporting toolsSubcontractor & Resource CoordinationSchedule subcontractors and issue contract labor requestsManage subcontractor communication and performance trackingOrder materials, consumables, and equipment rentalsTrack equipment inventory and ensure resource availabilitySupport procurement, PM, Site Manager, and Supervisors with:Extra Work Authorizations (EWA)Change Order (CO) managementCustomer & Cross-Functional InterfaceInterface with Project Managers, Engineers, Site Managers, and customersParticipate in project review meetings and post-mortem reviewsProvide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in installation practicesSupport and resolve escalations; escalate to Director when requiredQuality, Safety & ComplianceEnforce Dematic installation standards, processes, and proceduresPromote and enforce a strong safety cultureReporting & DocumentationMaintain installation management and PMC toolsProvide financial tracking, forecasting, and project reportingMonitor subcontractor updates and provide regular status communicationsContinuous ImprovementDrive continuous improvement through Kaizen funnel participationIdentify and implement process and procedure improvementsSupport operational efficiency initiatives and best practicesSkills & CapabilitiesStrong leadership and people management skillsAbility to manage multiple projects and prioritiesStrong financial and cost management understandingExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProficient in Microsoft Office and installation/project management toolsAbility to write clear and concise reportsExperience DesiredMinimum 5 years of experience troubleshooting mechanical and electrical equipmentExperience with material handling systems requiredExperience with AGVs, AS/RS, and conveyors strongly preferredEducation & CertificationsAssociate's degree or 1–2 years of vocational/technical training preferredHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredAdditional Job DescriptionWillingness to travel up to 25%, including short notice travelAbility to work weekends, holidays, and off shiftsWillingness to be on call as requiredStrong problem-solving and decision-making skillsCommitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction
