Overview
A consulting firm is seeking a Vice President, Benefits Consultant to serve as a senior client relationship leader supporting public sector organizations throughout the Western U.S. This position combines client management, strategic consulting, project leadership, and business development responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of public sector clients.
- Build and maintain executive-level client relationships and ensure high client satisfaction.
- Advise clients on employee health and retirement benefit strategies.
- Anticipate client needs and develop proactive solutions to emerging challenges.
- Provide strategic guidance on benefit plan design, implementation, and administration.
- Lead complex, cross-functional consulting engagements and coordinate project resources.
- Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to deliver comprehensive consulting services.
- Identify and pursue business development opportunities within existing and prospective public sector clients.
- Present complex information in a clear and actionable manner to stakeholders.
- Mentor and develop consulting staff while fostering a client-focused culture.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 10+ years of experience in employee benefits consulting or a related professional services environment.
- Experience advising organizations on retirement and/or health benefit programs.
- Ability to immediately assume direct client-facing responsibilities.
- Strong business acumen and leadership skills.
- Proven ability to analyze issues and develop practical solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated success building relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Ability to influence stakeholders and drive consensus.
- Experience mentoring and developing team members.
- Ability to travel as needed within the region.
Ideal Background
- Public sector consulting experience.
- Expertise in retirement, pension, healthcare, or OPEB programs.
- Experience managing large, complex client relationships.
- Business development and client growth experience.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary consulting teams.
Compensation
- Eligible for discretionary performance bonus.
