Associate Director of Development

The Ackland Art Museum at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is one of the country’s leading public university art museums. The Ackland holds North Carolina’s premier collections of Asian art and works on paper, alongside significant European, African, modern and contemporary art and NC pottery, totaling over 22,000 works of art. As an academic unit of UNC-Chapel Hill, the Museum serves as a center for research, scholarship, and creativity, supporting a diverse body of undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. The Ackland is a national leader in the number of university students engaged with more than 11,000 served through facilitated class visits. The museum offers innovative programs that engage university students, faculty, and staff, including a Study Gallery, a dynamic teaching space funded in part by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The Ackland also presents more than a dozen exhibitions and over 100 events annually for K–12 students, families, and the general public, reaching regional, national, and international audiences. As an active participant in the creative community of North Carolina’s Research Triangle Park, the Museum contributes to the region’s economic and cultural development. Role Description The Ackland is in the midst of a transformational chapter. We are actively raising funds for a major building expansion that will anchor a reimagined Arts & Culture District that will reshape this side of campus. This position will be a central partner in that effort – working alongside the Chief Development Officer, Museum and University leadership, Board Members and Volunteers – to build and manage a robust pipeline of major gift prospects for this project. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Associate Director will help identify, cultivate, solicit and steward prospects at the leadership annual giving and major gift levels, and work closely with campus development partners to develop fundraising strategies, coordinate donor engagement, and help shape the future of one of the country’s leading public university art museums. #J-18808-Ljbffr
