About Position:

• Work Location: (New Corporate Office) 2525 Meridian Parkway, Suite 400, Building 5, Durham, NC
• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm

Job Summary -  The Associate Director of Behavioral Health serves as a key operational and clinical leader responsible for supporting the Chief Behavioral Health Officer in the oversight, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of behavioral health services across Piedmont Health's community health centers and school-based health programs. The Associate Director ensures delivery of high-quality, patient-centered behavioral healthcare that aligns with HRSA requirements, evidence-based practices, value-based care initiatives, and organizational strategic goals.

This role collaborates closely with medical, dental, pharmacy, nursing, care management, quality improvement, and operations leadership to ensure seamless integration of behavioral health into primary care while promoting equitable access, positive patient outcomes, and operational excellence. This position does require clinical time providing patient care.

The Associate Director of Behavioral Health must be an advocate for behavioral health services and promote awareness and education.

Minimum Qualifications -

Education: 

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Healthcare Administration, or a related field;

Experience: 

• 7 years of progressive behavioral health clinical experience;
• 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience;
• Experience managing multidisciplinary clinical teams;
• Experience working within school-based behavioral health, pediatric behavioral health, or community mental health;
• Experience with HRSA funded health centers, preferred;
• Experience with grant funded behavioral health programs, preferred;
• Experience with an FQHC, Community Health Center, or nonprofit healthcare organization, preferred;

Licensure: Current unrestricted North Carolina clinical licensure in one of the following is required.

• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW);
• Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC);
• Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT);

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Demonstrated ability to provide both administrative and clinical supervision to staff.
• Understanding of mental health, substance use and behaviors that impact overall health, experienced in diagnosing behavioral health conditions and applying evidence-based treatments.
• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, other departments, and community agencies;
• Strong oral and written communication skills;
• Ability to present information, negotiate, and resolve conflicts;
• Analyze data, interpret regulations, evaluate program effectiveness, and identify areas for improvement;
• Familiarity with relevant state and federal regulations, policies, and procedures;
• Ability to multitask and work under stressful conditions;
• Commitment to ongoing professional development with the latest trends and best practices;
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems, databases, and other relevant software.

Immunizations: Be medically cleared for communicable diseases and have all immunizations up-to-date prior to beginning employment

Pay Range: $97,433.00 - $130,942.00(commensurate with years of experience)
