Civil Drainage Engineer I

Job Description Civil Drainage Engineer I / I – Transportation located in California. The role may be based in Corona, Irvine, or San Diego offices with hybrid remote working 2 days per week. Position Overview Engage in engineering drainage and culvert systems design, hydraulic modeling, and drainage calculations for transportation projects. Review construction details, erosion control drawings, perform quantity calculations, produce engineering analytical data, and deliver critical design components. Experience with CALTRANS projects is a plus. Responsibilities Develop engineering products that meet customer quality requirements, including problem definition, scope, budget, schedule, technical direction, and status reporting. Produce detailed calculations, drawings, procurement documents, design packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, and detailed analyses. Support other engineering activities as required. May be assigned to a project or organizational team, or serve as lead engineer for a specific discipline on a small to intermediate-size project. Provide input and technical guidance to CAD designers, drafters, designers, and lower-level engineers on the same project. Perform other responsibilities as appropriate. Qualifications 4‑year degree in Civil Engineering or related field. 3+ years of experience with drainage and culvert systems design for transportation projects. Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) Certificate required. Proficiency in CAD and other PC software packages typical for engineering. Experience on California Department of Transportation projects preferred. Proficiency with hydraulic modeling programs such as HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS, HY‑8, Bentley InRoads Storm & Sanitary, AutoCAD Civil 3D Drainage Networks, Bentley StormCAD, Aquaveo WMS, NRCS WinTR‑55, Bentley FlowMaster, FHWA Hydraulic Toolbox, and EPA Storm Water Management. Security Clearance Requirement None. Salary and Benefits Salary Range: $63,600.00 – $111,300.00.
