Senior Civil Drainage Engineer

Senior Civil Drainage Engineer – Southern California Ready to put your civil engineering and drainage design skills to work on marquee road and highway design projects that will change the urban fabric of our community? Parsons is now hiring a Senior Drainage Engineer for design‑build and design‑bid‑build projects located in Southern California to support various Caltrans road, highway and rail projects. This role can be based in Pasadena, Corona or Irvine and allows for a hybrid work situation (able to work from home 1‑2 days per week). In this role, you will be engaged in engineering drainage and stormwater treatment designs, hydraulic systems modeling, and drainage calculations. You will be responsible for review and preparation of construction details, construction specifications and estimates, performing quantity calculations, producing and checking engineering analytical data, and delivering critical design components related to project scope. Experience with Caltrans projects is highly desirable. Responsibilities Develop and/or supervise the creation of engineering products that meet customer quality requirements, including defining the problem, setting scope, preparing budget and schedule, planning work, providing technical direction, and reporting status. Produce detailed calculations, drawings, procurement documents, design and installation packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, and detailed analyses. Provide support for other engineering activities as required and may supervise one or more subordinates and give performance input. Serve as lead engineer for a specific discipline on a small to intermediate‑size project or as part of a project or organizational team. Give technical guidance to CAD designers, drafters, and lower‑level engineers working on the same project. Qualifications 4‑year degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) required. 8+ years of related work experience with road & highway drainage design, preferably with state DOT projects. PE (Professional Engineer) license required. Proficiency in CAD and other PC software packages typically used in engineering. Experience with Caltrans projects in California highly desirable; experience obtaining canal and storm water permits a plus. Experience with hydraulic modeling programs such as HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS, HY‑8, Bentley InRoads Storm & Sanitary, AutoCAD Civil 3D Drainage Networks, Bentley StormCAD, Aquaveo Watershed Modeling System (WMS), NRCS WinTR‑55, Bentley FlowMaster, FHWA Hydraulic Toolbox, Aquaveo SMS SRH 2D Hydraulic Modeling, and EPA Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) essential.
