Summary

General production position utilizing manual and automated processes to manufacture fiberglass products.

Essential Functions (Duties May Vary Depending On Department)

• Work on-site in Hastings, Michigan (not a remote position)
• Comply with and adhere to applicable safety and work rules and requirements
• Work independently and with other members of the department to fill work orders
• Operate specialized table at waist height to align and roll sheets of fiberglass cloth around steel mandrels
• Use lathe to wrap nylon around fiberglass-covered mandrels in a range of diameters; hang wrapped mandrels on metal carts and push in walk-in oven; operate oven to required settings
• Assemble parts by hand
• Maintain required production rates
• Use hand tools such as utility knife, pliers, scissors, and hammer
• Identify and produce blanks by part number
• Maintain manual production records
• Perform marking of blank components according to instructions and specifications
• Perform inspection of components by examining them for adherence to quality standards
• Read and understand patterns, drawings, and work instructions
• Assist in other areas of the production floor as needed
• Maintain clean and safe working environments in assigned areas
• Comply with and adhere to all applicable ISO standards
• Performs other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

• Strong hand-eye coordination
• Can tolerate warm/non-air conditioned factory environment including use of walk-in oven through shift to retrieve racks of parts
• Use of personal protective equipment as required
• Ability to use hand tools such as utility knife, pliers, and hammer and operate machinery
• Ability to lift and maneuver 5-ft. steel mandrels from waist to shoulder height
• Ability to stand for up to 10 hours per day
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds

Education, Experience and Qualifications

• Previous experience in a manufacturing facility preferred
• Ability to take direction and follow instructions
• Good verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to complete assigned tasks
• Ability to adapt to challenges and changes that arise in course of the day (e.g., equipment malfunctions and changes in production schedule)
• Positively contribute as a member of a team of co-workers
