Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) | Weekdays, Every Other Weekend, Float, and Holidays within contract | 13 Weeks with Possible Extension

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit with a 1:7 patient ratio
• Perform continuous telemetry monitoring and interpret cardiac rhythms including sinus rhythms, heart blocks, lethal rhythms, atrial rhythms, junctional rhythms, and pacing
• Initiate and manage IV access and related interventions
• Care for neurology and stroke patient populations
• Float within the unit as required per contract terms
• Complete required pre-start orientation modules prior to first day

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia or compact RN license in hand at time of submittal – no exceptions
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; prior travel nursing experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association required
• NIHSS certification required
• Proficiency in EPIC electronic health records – no exceptions
• Must pass a facility EKG/telemetry test with a score of 80% or higher (one attempt, no remediation); test covers interval measurements, complex identification, and rhythm identification

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with neurology and stroke patient populations
• Demonstrated proficiency in IV insertion and telemetry interpretation
• Ability to successfully complete fit testing requirements (PAPR cannot be accommodated)
