Security OfficerFounded in 1947, Baltimore City Community College (BCCC) is a comprehensive, urban institution accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The College's campus is located in West Baltimore and courses are offered throughout the City. The College is proud of the fact that over 50 nations are represented within the student body. * Based on the annual unduplicated credit and non-credit headcount for FY 2023.Responsibilities/DutiesPatrol campus and report suspected crimes, accidents, or activities of questionable/suspicious nature;Write detailed report of incidents that occur on campus;Conduct radio communications including serving as dispatcher as requiredEnforce parking and traffic control for designated special events;Secure, inspect, and open College buildings and facilities;Maintains logs for visitors and other personnel;Maintain records and reportsAnswer and reset fire alarms;Raises and lowers flags;May train lower level building security officersOther related duties as assigned.Required QualificationsHigh School Diploma/GEDTwo (2) years of experience serving as a public safety officer or security guard.Preferred QualificationsAA Degree in Criminal Justice or related field.Five (5) or more years of experience serving as a public safety officer or in a similar field.Ability to comprehend and follow instructions;Ability to courteously and effectively deal with persons of diverse backgrounds;Ability to make observations and clearly describe them;Ability to follow prescribed procedures for the protection and safety of self, visitors and employees;Ability to interpret, explain, and enforce institutional rules and regulations.BCCC is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
