Claims Manager

Position Summary:The Claims Manager plays a critical role in safeguarding the company’s financial and physical assets by proactively managing insurable property losses from end to end. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role requiring sophisticated project management, sharp judgment, and a high level of accountability. Reporting into a hands-on team environment known for professionalism, collaboration, and excellence, the Claims Manager will oversee a portfolio of property-related claims across a diverse range of assets and regions. A successful Claims Manager is able to manage their time effectively, is detail oriented, a trustworthy team player, and takes pride in their work. In addition, this position needs to be accountable and attentive to provide excellent customer service skills when interacting with tenants, associates, and vendors.Primary ResponsibilitiesTriage & Assignment: Intake new incidents for the broader Claims team and assign them to the appropriatelyFull-Cycle Claims Oversight: Manage property damage claims from initial incident intake through full restoration and financial recovery, ensuring optimal resolution and minimal financial impact to the companyFinancial Accuracy: Maintain rigorous documentation, reporting and oversight of claim-related financials, including insurance proceeds, invoices, subrogation, and third-party recoveriesCross-Coverage Support: Provide assistance on claims outside the property coverage line as assigned, supporting a fully integrated claims management functionProject Management: Lead multiple concurrent claims projects with complex timelines, stakeholder groups, and deliverables—owning the process from start to finishStakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate effectively with third-party adjusters, engineers, consultants, contractors, legal counsel, insurance carriers, brokers, and internal teams including Development, Operations, Accounting, and FinanceTechnology & Reporting: Utilize the company's claims software system for accurate recordkeeping and prepare timely and detailed reporting for leadership and external partnersDeadline Leadership: Influence and motivate others—including vendors and cross-functional teams—to meet aggressive deadlines while upholding quality standardsContinuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process enhancement, cost containment, and operational efficiency within the property claims spaceVendor & Contract Management: Negotiate contract terms for restoration projects to ensure compliance, value, and timely completionTeam Collaboration: Actively participate in a positive team environment through teamwork, communication and excellence in service; communicate regularly with the Director of Risk Management & InsuranceService Culture Leadership: Actively demonstrate the values of the Weidner Customer Service Vision to team members, associates and external customersQualificationsMinimum of 2 years of experience managing property insurance claims, including handling of complex losses, requiredStrong understanding of construction methods and materials; experience overseeing contractors during repair and restoration projects is highly preferredBachelor’s Degree preferred; experience within the multifamily or apartment industry, preferredProficient in mathematics and financial concepts relevant to claims evaluation, cost tracking, and recoveryExcellent written and verbal communication skills; strong negotiation capabilities with a proven ability to drive resolutions and close dealsStrong interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset; able to build and maintain productive long-term relationships across diverse stakeholder groupsProactive communicator who is comfortable initiating direct conversations to resolve issues and move projects forwardStrong work ethic, positive attitude, and sound judgmentExperienced in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft products required (Word, PowerPoint and Outlook); Willing and able to learn new software programsAbility to work in a fast-paced environment with strong motivation to learn & contribute on a daily basisFollow Weidner’s Mission, Vision and Values and comply with all of Weidner’s policies and procedures as well as all Fair Housing, local, state/province, and federal lawsPrompt with regular attendance; wear company dress code/ uniform & maintain professional appearance at all timesWork effectively and cooperatively in a team environment and/or independentlyAbility to work outside of normal scheduled hours, when necessaryAbility to work 5 days a week in the Kirkland home officeAbility to travel within the US and Canada; valid passportMust agree to a criminal background check and sign an agreement for voluntary drug testingValid and current driver’s license, vehicle and vehicle insurance #J-18808-Ljbffr Weidner Apartment Homes
