About the Role

Atlas Fibre is seeking an experienced 2nd Shift CNC Mill Setup Technician to set up and operate FANUC ROBODRILL CNC machining centers . The ideal candidate has experience with precision milling, independently performing setups, making offsets, verifying first articles, and troubleshooting machining issues while maintaining tight tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate FANUC ROBODRILL CNC machining centers.
• Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions.
• Install tooling and establish work and tool offsets.
• Set up vises, fixtures, and workholding.
• Verify first article inspections and make necessary offset adjustments.
• Monitor tool wear and replace tooling as needed.
• Inspect parts using precision measuring instruments.
• Maintain quality and production standards while following all safety procedures.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of CNC mill setup experience.
• Experience setting up and operating FANUC ROBODRILL or similar FANUC-controlled CNC machining centers.
• Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T.
• Experience with precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, indicators, and height gauges.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to maintain tight tolerances in a production environment.

1. Setup Planning

Before beginning a FANUC ROBODRILL setup, what information do you verify from the blueprint, setup sheet, program, tooling list, material, and workholding?

2. Setup & Offsets

Describe how you establish and verify work offsets, tool offsets, and ensure the vise or fixture is properly indicated before running the first part.

3. First Article & Troubleshooting

If your first article inspection fails, how do you determine whether the issue is caused by the setup, tooling, program, workholding, machine, or measurement process?

4. Tooling & Quality

What signs tell you a cutting tool is dull, chipped, deflecting, rubbing, or incorrect for the material? How do you correct these issues?

5. ROBODRILL Experience

Describe your experience with FANUC ROBODRILL or similar FANUC-controlled CNC mills. Include:

• Years of setup experience
• Types of materials machined
• Typical tolerances held
• Experience with tool offsets, work offsets, and first article inspections

• CNC Tooling
• G-Code
• M-Code
• CNC Machine Setup & Changeover
• Machine Setups for Production Runs
