Senior Software Engineer (Platform, Ruby on Rails)

Responsibilities Contribute to existing and create new products Work on Backend with other engineers Develop and propose software architecture for new products based on Product Team requirements Refactor large code base from time to time Performance optimizations and cost-reducing practices Education and experience requirements Bachelor\'s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science Minimum 8+ years of full-time hands-on experience Strong experience in development and optimization of databases (PostgreSQL, AWS Redshift) and complex software architectures Strong experience developing Ruby on Rails applications and RESTful APIs Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities A proven track record of launching and maintaining large-scale web applications A good foundational knowledge of OOP languages, operating systems, data structures, algorithms, and complexity trade-offs Strong knowledge working with payment processors (Stripe, Braintree, etc), subscriptions, user management, Redis, Sidekiq, Cron jobs, etc. Solid knowledge of SOLID, TDD principles A background in refactoring large-scale systems Knowledge of Elastic Beanstalk and other AWS services Strong communications skills both written and verbal Extra Points React.js development experience Growth and opportunity This position has potential to be promoted to Director or VP of Engineering for the right candidate. Physical demands Able to frequently sit, stand, walk, use hands to fingers, handle or feel, reach within hands and arm\'s length, stoop, kneel, and crouch, talk and hear Regularly required to sit for extended periods; frequently required to use office equipment such as PC, printer, telephone, etc. Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus Base pay and benefits Base salary range: $140-180k. Our base pay philosophy is to provide salary range transparency in our hiring process. We post our base salary range on job openings and discuss candidates’ salary expectations during initial interviews. The role is eligible for a new hire equity grant in the form of stock options and a bonus plan.
