Sr Mechanical HVAC Engineer-Dust Control Specialist Capable of drafting and design. Office Setup: Hybrid. Ideally, selected candidates will be near a JACOBS U.S. based office, but we intend to hire the "best" candidates. We're looking for a high-energy, Senior HVAC Engineer with extensive experience in dust collection systems to deliver solutions for Advanced Manufacturing clients. You will lead our Building Mechanical team members on projects, perform field investigations, interface with clients & vendors, size and select equipment, and prepare construction design packages. You’ll manage schedule and technical quality of engineering tasks, work with multi-discipline teams, establish HVAC design basis, develop specifications and calculations, and produce detail design packages. Highlights of your contributions will include: Layout and design of HVAC systems for our industrial clients. Lead the development of dust collection systems. Lead conversations related to Dust Hazard Analysis (DHAs) and combustible dust hazards. Guide the project team and client with systems that properly capture dust in a safe manner in accordance with applicable codes and good engineering practice. Development of the design criteria for the HVAC systems, including general comfort heating and cooling, accurate temperature or humidity control, unique pressurization requirements, and/or cleanliness requirements for clean room applications. Development of conceptual and preliminary design documents, including calculations related to sizing and selecting these systems, the development of Utility System P&IDs, and general arrangements. Layout of Ductwork systems based on an Air Flow and Instrumentation Diagram (AF&ID). Development of final design documents including specifications, sequences of operation, piping layout, and final construction documents associated with these systems, such as chilled water, cooling water, etc. Mentoring of less experienced staff. Here’s what you’ll need At least fifteen (15) years’ experience in the design of HVAC systems with several projects involving dust collection systems. Professional Engineering (PE) License. Thorough knowledge of codes and standards related to the design of HVAC systems. Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Adaptability to work within a fast‑paced team environment with multiple deadlines. Ability to lead a building mechanical team on a project and to collaborate with other discipline team members remotely. Ideally, You’ll Also Have: Software experience in Revit, AutoCAD, Carrier HAP, Trane Trace 700, and Trane Trace 3D. Experience in the design of plumbing/utility systems. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
